Projects
Sustainability projects involve a collaborative effort with the building owner, the architectural design team, building occupants and other project stakeholders and cover all aspects of sustainability including energy and water use, site issues, green materials, indoor environmental quality and liveability. Research work ranges from technical investigations of design alternatives and product components to post occupancy investigations of building performance and occupant satisfaction.
Happy Hollow Park and Zoo
Sustainability design and LEED consultant for redevelopment of this popular children’s zoo in San Jose, CA. The $52 M project includes seven new sustainable buildings with green roofs, daylighting, radiant heated/chilled floors, water efficient plumbing, greywater irrigation, and an innovative stormwater retention system under walkways. Completed 2009. LEED Gold certification.

ShoWare Events Center
Sustainable design and LEED consultant for 6000 seat hockey arena and events center in Kent, WA. Sustainability elements include transportation alternatives to reduce impacts of event attendees, sustainable material selection, demand controlled ventilation to improve indoor air quality, and efficient HVAC system to reuse reject heat from ice-making equipment. Achieved LEED Gold certification

Puget Ridge Cohousing
First cohousing development in Seattle, WA. Built in 1994, these 23 self-contained units share common walls (in duplexes and triplexes) to reduce energy use and site impacts. Sustainable construction with shared common areas including gardens, playfields, courtyards and a 4000 sf. commonuouse including large shared kitchen, dining room living room, rec room and workshop.
Seattle City Hall & Justice Center Performance Evaluation
Post occupancy evaluation of Seattle City Hall and Seattle Justice Center involving calibrated energy model, spot metering, and occupant surveys, analysis of annual water and energy savings and one-time savings from construction waste diversion.
The LEED Projects Analysis tracks the projected contributions of Seattle’s LEED buildings to the conservation of energy, water, and resources for the region.
